WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT OUR SHELLS...
"People are going to beat your door down for these stave snare drums."
"These drums have FAR exceeded my wildest expectations for sound."
"...the purity of sound and response at super low volumes blows away ANY ply kit I have ever played."
"Thank you also for the extremely fast service. You definitely can expect to have me as a customer for a very long time."
"Hey Tim,
I got the shell. Another perfect piece of work. Thanks for everything. "
"Thanks for the Beautiful Figured Bubinga shell. Awesome stuff. Very nice. I may be interested in a Black Walnut Kit.."
"WOW! That's great. Thanx a bunch for you extremely fast service. You will definitely be getting my business in the future."
"Tim, Thanks for the beautiful Walnut Shell. I got it today.
Thanks so much, Greg"
"This snare drum is the LOUDEST, most sensitive snare I've ever played. Out of the 8 snares I own this one hands-down is my favorite and is my work horse for every gig. Ultra divers from playing in rock band to even playing in Latin/ Salsa bands. Everyone from musician to non-musician has commented about the snare so positively. You were right about the micing too. Two out of my three major gigs I don't have to mic up the snare for those settings. It cuts through even the band and we play predominantly rock/ hard rock. Major brownie points on the package.
I must say, I couldn't be more content with it. I've hardly seen such professional craftsmanship on any instrument or project before. It almost seems a shame to taint it with hardware. Thanks so much for taking the time to make such a tremendous shell. I'll let you know how it turns out. Very elated drummer, Colin”
“These drums have FAR exceeded my wildest expectations for sound. The Die cast hoops have a bit of the "Gretsch" thing happening, but the purity of sound and response at super low volumes blows away ANY ply kit I have ever played. These are solid walnut shells with thin maple stripes for cosmetic purposes only.”
"Tim,
I just received my kit from Rob Schuh. A 18/14/12 with 14x6.5 snare, all in the JTP dark walnut, and have to thank you VERY MUCH for your shells. The walnut you chose is absolutely amazing looking and has this "quilting" effect that adds a spectacular dimension to the look.
I tuned them up, and the tone right out of the box is great. I'm getting great sound when tuned high or low. I'll have fun dialing that in on upcoming gigs with different head choices and tunings, etc.
Thanks very much for your time and thought putting this kit together. The look and sound is amazing. I'm already thinking about the next one."

I apologize for not writting You timely, to praise You not only for your efforts in completing and shipping under short-notice, but chiefly...I am totally frigg'n amazed. I am STILL in total awe of this shell.
Man...Tim...You are creating works of Art destined for placement in the Smithsonian. You are a Mastercraftsman, my Friend. Your talent and ability are way beyond typical or even expected from a Tradesman or Cabinetshop. I just can't say enough praise in a Letter and express my thanks deep enough,
for You sharing one of your creations with little Me. I know 'she' will sound exceptional and delightful and can't wait for the next three coats of an 'Old World Masters' Tung/ poly hand rub finish to be completed! That should enable assembly no later than Friday eve AND an offering in sound to the Heavens, to follow IMMEDIATELY (smile). If this particular shell is your normal Product...I'm already budgeting a complete Kit...!.

“I received the padauk and bird's eye maple shell, OUSTANDING SHELL! Very well pleased!”
"Hey Tim!
Finally I got the time to send you some pictures of that wonderful cocobolo snare shell you did for me. I will take more pictures of it in late January 2006 with the brass rims I have back home, it will look even better then…
The color on the pictures is close but it's really hard to get the real effect of the reflection of light on the wood grain. The last set of pictures is a little more accurate and also looks better with the shiny right side; it really shows what a good job you did with the gloss finish.
The sound is just AMAZING… I will record it when I get back on tour in late January so at least you can hear what it can do. This snare cuts through anything… The Musical Director of our show "Thoroughly Modern Millie" was on stage when I put that new snare on and played a little bit…. He went straight to the Soundman and asked to turn it down in the monitors because it was so much louder and crisper than the original shell (Maple). He was amazed by the power and articulation of this drum. No matter how hard I hit it, it doesn't choke, it just sounds full, and it gives you the feeling that you cannot overplay this drum, it will always sound clean and crisp playing soft or loud.
The Soundman was also very impressed by its articulation and definition at any volume. He said "It's so easy to mic this drum, you don't have to work to get a good sound out of it. It's so crisp…"
To me the drum has the best of both worlds, the cutting power of metal and the warmth of the wood. There is so much more snare response on this drum now since I got the cocobolo shell, from extremely soft to extremely hard, it is just amazing. When it is wide open with no muffling at all, there a very nice ring (like a good metal snare) very clean and extremely long-lasting, so you can easily decide how much ring you want by muffling it a little or a lot… there's just a lot more possibilities with this drum than what it used to be. At lower tension, there's a lot of warmth without the muddiness of 61/2 X 14 and at higher tension there's so much cutting power with still a lot of warmth. The rim shots are out of this world, there's just so much sound and projection coming out of it. The across rim click (Bossa nova style) is very clean, articulate and sweet sounding; I will definitely sample all of those sounds. Even the brushes have more projection and articulation than before; I just could not believe my ears when I started playing brushes on it. This snare drum has just become way more versatile than before… and also way more beautiful too!"

“Got 'em today...OH MY! Those are beautiful. I wanna just hang them on a wall. Man, they do look sweet. The Zebra is amazing the Purpleheart is massive. The hardware really works. A little too much gold on the Zebra, but I'll get used to it. Now seriously thinking of getting a stave kit.”
"Tim,
Just wanted to send you a thank you for the 6x14 Jarrah shell you did for me. I won it off Ebay several weeks ago. The drilling, edges, shell, just everything are top notch. I finished the shell with low gloss tung oil (3 coats, inside and out). It is simply beautiful and the sound. Oh my, my favorite wood drum ever. I took it over to a friend's studio last night and he could not believe the sound and tuning range of this drum."
"Hi Tim:
I just wanted to let you know that I received the shell yesterday and it is absolutely beautiful! The finish has so much depth and texture and the craftsmanship is outstanding!
Thank you for the wonderful instrument. I am going to "test drive" it this weekend. I will let you know the results."
"Hi Tim,
The shell arrived today safe and sound. Beautiful job! It looksgreat; the edges are nice and flat and the bed's just right. On acouple of occasions, I've order raw shells from highly recommended, reputable dealers, only to be disappointed with the quality of theedges. Yours, on the other hand, are right on. Thanks again!
-Ron"
